A traditional and proud community is displaced when the forest they live in, is newly demarcated as a protected one. Migrants from across the border, they had been living there for over 40 years. Experts in mud- work, they found work in the now closed stone quarries, and then in digging cable trenches and basements in the city. They had a mixed culture, and despite worshiping Hindu gods they buried their dead, from times before religion had become so rigidly divided.
