• In the Shadow of the Vulture, 2008
Delhi, indeed the Subcontinent has lost its vultures. They were abundant, nesting or souring the skies, as they kept the city clean. Abundant in millions even a decade ago, they have all but disappeared in the sub-continent. A simple pain killer given to livestock has exterminated this ancient majestic bird through poisoning its food. Worshipped over centuries by Hindus, Egyptians and Greeks alike, today we unjustly condemn nature's 'docile dead keeper' as "scavengers." We are living in times of extinctions. Are we not responsible?
